# SPJIMR GI Experience-
CASE STUDY ROUND
Were provided with a case study (about 2 pages long) to read thoroughly.
No submission required.
You can ask for pen paper if you wish to make notes(you can keep the notes with you)
were asked questions regarding this in GI2 (no mention in GI1)
Topic - wrongful categorisation of food products which can be harmful instead of being healthy(case study of recent bournvita’s high sugar content)
Time limit- 20 minutes

Panelists introduced themselves first (make sure to be mindful of the asnwers u give based on the panellists, try to be the one driving the interview)

M3 left his job for CAT prep and his startup aspirations (was cross questioned and grilled kinda)
F1 was asked about some business analyst questions (she couldnt answer very well imo)
M2 was asked about his work ex (bro was spot on)
M1 was asked about his future aspirations (talked about fintech+crypto, was questioned deeply about both of these)
F2 was asked about her role as well(she could answer it very well)
As the discussion started off on startups, panelist asked each of us who would u advise among the other four to start a start up and why.

# Sibm GEPI ( MBA core)
Date: 29.01.25, 10 am slot
Profile: 3rd-year BBA student (8/8/8 academics)
GE: We were given a case study about an e-commerce brand struggling due to multiple factors. We had to come up with solutions. (Each member explained their thoughts for 1 minute, followed by an open discussion to reach a consensus.)
PI - 2 panelists 1 male ( late 50s) and 1 female ( 40s)
PI: The interview started well with greetings. The interviewer asked if I was in my final year.
They then asked about the highest and lowest points throughout my bachelor's journey.
They asked me about my thoughts on " feedback"
Then asked me if I've received any feedback in the recent future .
Asked about 3 magical wishes that I want.
Next, they asked about my favorite subject (I replied, Global Business Environment).
The interviewer asked me to describe three events affecting businesses globally and their impact on India.
Asked unemployment rate in India.
They then shifted gears, asking about Coldplay's social media strategy.
I was asked to provide three suggestions for starting a social media career.
The interviewer then gave me a task: to identify a competitor of Coca-Cola and explain why it's better. However, they quickly altered the question, asking me to argue why Coca-Cola is better instead. I was also asked how I would promote sales.
Finally, the interviewer inquired about any national or international achievements I have. That concluded the interview.

Overall, the female panelist was quite chill and smiling throughout... Male panelist asked some general questions, but looked at me once or twice only

M (interrupts): But why is there a need for any new investment in print media?

M: What is the difference between the media scenario in the US and in India?
Me: Talked about the higher rate of acceptance of subscriptions
M: But why do you think press in the US launches such scathing attacks on the President, but not in India?
Me: Mentioned how corporate ownership in media precludes from media to criticise the government, since 2014, there has been a lot backside in terms of press freedom...
M: Oh, so 2014, you mean since the BJP came to power?
Me: Said that yes, although it's not unprecedented, but misuse of power implies that they haven't learnt from history. Talked about the role of media during the anti-corruption movement

Mentioned a lot of Kerala-specific examples, to which I agreed that there's a lot of political violence in Kerala, but still, the state is a lot better than the north Indian states (said, "what Kerala thinks today, India thinks tomorrow

F1: You have been waiting for quite a while now. Did you ask for feedback of the panellists? (told them no since there weren't students from my panel in the room I was waiting)
F1: So if there was an option, would you ask for feedback? (answered yes)
F1: Tell us about the work you did. (told)
F1: What sector was your client operating in? (real estate - co working
F1: What would it cost me if I have a team of 10 analysts and I want to turn this room into a office space? (told them how I was responsible for debt strategy and how a different department handled this)
F1: Answer the question regardless since you must have a basic idea. (told, poor guess estimations)
F1: Recently BJP won Delhi elections. What are your opinions on it?
F1: How did BJP even manage to takeover Arvind Kejriwal's stronghold? (answered, didn't seem satisfied)
F1: Why didn't Congress win any seats? (answered poorly)
F1: You're from Uttarakhand. What is UCC? (answered)
F1: Business implications? (Couldn't think of any)
F1: MLA or MP, who becomes the CM? (answered)
F1: Delhi isn't a state. Why do they hold elections? (answered)
F1: Why did you quit your job? (answered)
F1: Where do your parents live? (answered)
M1: Who's the CM of Uttarakhand? (answered)
M1: What suggestions would you give to Mr. Dhami to boost Uttarakhand's economy? (answered, wasn't satisfied)
M1: You're from a Capital Markets background. Please answer on similar lines. (told, kinda satisfied)
M1: How do you stay up to date? (answered)
M1: We don't see many GenZ reading newspapers these days. This is new.

GD topic : Fake news and Misinformation - Challenges and Solutions (self rating: GD quality overall was bad , 5/10, but I personally initiated, put a few points and concluded as well, so that was 9/10 for me)
PI Questions (3 male panelist s) :
\- TMAY
\- How do you go about the valuation process? (Talked abt factors, also mentioned start-ups get valued on revenue multiple as well)
\- How did you calculate the discount rate? (Answered thru CAPM, (p.s - that's just for equity)asked me full form. Also added that WACC was used)
\- How'd you calculate the cost of equity? (Said we used the ROE of our closest competitor as signal, calculated our own ROE as well and took a sort of average keeping in mind future growth)
\- Do you think in the age where start ups are burning money, a revenue multiple valuation works as opposed to profitability? (Said that I agree, revenue multiple should only be an indicator of potential, profit important)
\- Economics, Nash equilibrium? (Gave an example, explained in own words, I think they wanted a very book definition, cuz panelist said you were very close, but what you said is not the proper thing)
\- You know abt crypto right? Impact on monetary policy? Trump is giving freedom to it, views? (Said that it should be looked at as alternative investment, not proper currency. They said no, some countries allow it, you tell us impact on monetary policy. Said that it would weaken the monetary policy, explained impact)
\- What is CBDC? (Said the digital currency for India, all online, can't be cashed out)
\- Picked out my college sheets. There's a course called biz simulations. Asked what are simulations? (I said scenario analysis based on different inputs, was starting to give personal work example, stopped me in the middle, said say smth else. Could only say that it's primarily scenario analysis. Asked if I watch discovery channel, they use a lot of simulation stuff. Said I shall look into it later)
\- What do you think abt the Trump tariffs? (Said he uses them as leverage, explained mexico situation, added that he wants to MAGA, industry job addition, national economy boost)
\- Asked my hobbies (I said reading books, named the last book I read. Asked me author, I blanked out, said I don't remember at the moment. Said you must've just read the summary. Started to defend but they said thanks, you may go.)
